The City of Los Angeles has a committment to make the game accessible to children from all economic backgrounds who have little to no exposure to the Game. Through the Department of Recreation and Parks, the City of LA empowers local staff at each public golf facility to manage summer programs to provide them with the skills, knowledge and confidence to play the game and the Rules to provide structure and character to develop into model citizens within our community. This program lacks equipment and is self-funded by charitable activities at Rancho Park Golf Course. The George Von Elm Memorial tournament is one such activity that will help to purchase golf equipment, balls and accessories to introduce golf to under-served youth from our giving in the spirit of the game. For more information about the City of LA program, please contact Uriel A. Matus, Rancho Park Head Starter at (310) 739-8788. | |||
